Welcome to Our Community of Seekers
The Santa Rosa Quaker Meeting — a spirit-led gathering we invite you to come explore
(see schedule below for times and location)
On the part of each one who approaches Quaker worship … there should be the intention to give all of oneself to the adventure of the exploration of the inner life. This means that we must try to be open in love, sympathy and understanding to our own needs and inner richness. In the same spirit we should be willing to receive similar gifts from others.–George Gorman, The Amazing Fact of Quaker Worship, 2008.
Life in these times throws us challenges like never before, where peace, equality, inward searching and integrity are signposts on a journey, and doorways to meaningful lives.
For Friends — Quakers as we are better known — successful encounters with each other and the wider world ask that we take strength from an “inner light,” the Divine as sought by individuals of diverse backgrounds and honored by seekers in a gathered community.
Beyond that we reject dogma and embrace these basic tenets: authenticity in word and action as antidote to self deception; peace within, across the larger community and in the world at large, as corrective to violence and oppression; simplicity as the right ordering of our lives where the seeds of truth, love and honesty bear nourishment for the spirit; and equality, born of a conviction that there is that of God in everyone…rich, poor, native born, immigrant, and across all ethnicities.
Redwood Forest Friends Meeting is an Open and Affirming unprogrammed Quaker Meeting. Everyone is welcome. All of the buildings are wheelchair accessible.
LOCATION
1647 Guerneville Rd. Santa Rosa, CA 95403 707-578-3327
Redwood Forest Friends Meeting acknowledges that our Meeting House and the homes of our members and attenders are on unceded land of the Coast Miwok, Pomo, and Wappo Peoples, who have lived here for millennia. These lands were taken by settler colonizers in fraudulent and violent ways. We seek ways to promote healing and right-relationship with the land and Indigenous people. Toward this end, we commit to act as allies to support tribal sovereignty and to help redistribute land, power, and resources back to Native communities.
